Our Services
Acute disease management involves treating a patient's symptoms
in the short term, usually over a period of days to a few weeks.
Examples of acute illnesses include infections like the flu,
pneumonia, or urinary tract infections, as well as injuries like
broken bones or cuts requiring stitches. The goal of acute
disease management is to provide immediate relief of symptoms
and prevent complications. This typically involves diagnostic
tests, such as blood tests or imaging scans, as well as
medications or other treatments to alleviate the patient's
symptoms.
Chronic disease management, on the other hand, involves treating
conditions that are ongoing and long-lasting, usually lasting
for months or years. Examples of chronic illnesses include
diabetes, heart disease, or chronic obstructive pulmonary
disease (COPD). The goal of chronic disease management is to
control the symptoms of the condition, prevent complications,
and improve the patient's quality of life. This typically
involves regular monitoring, medications, lifestyle changes, and
other treatments tailored to the patient's specific needs.
In both acute and chronic disease management, May's Family
Clinic play a critical role in patient education and support. We
will work with patients to help them understand their illness,
develop healthy habits, and manage symptoms to improve their
overall health and well-being.
